about
Fears, phobias, sticky horrors and other odd associations provided by lyrics; compositionally – eclecticism of various metal genres. This was the main conception of the project Forbidden Shape, planned by Roman Gungrind in 2011. The music is based on thrash’n’death structure supplemented with classical heavy metal riffs, elements of prog-metal and even folk melodies. In 2012 Gungrind recorded guitar and bass parts in Primordial Studio, which is famous for being a bridgehead for Moscow funeral/death doom vanguard. Drums were recorded by Andrew Ischenko in Arkady Navaho’s Cosmos Studio. Gungrind suggested producing lyrics, working on vocal parts and singing to E.S., his Decay Of Reality band-mate (also the vocalist in Who Dies In Siberian Slush). The result of this cooperation was topped with realization of Gungrind’s long-standing plan - to use the poem of Russian classic Alexander Pushkin “A Drowned Man” as lyrics for one of the tracks.
Furthermore the musicians, known for their works in Abstract Spirit and Twilight Is Mine, took part in recording. There was M. Hater, who did solo guitar parts and I. Stellarghost, who amplified the album with keyboards.
All together with the art-work, done by E. Trollberry, this release presents a grotesque and morbid manifestation of human mind, which is to be explored by a listener.
